

Xavier Lowe
Baroque cello, Viola da Gamba
Xavier Lowe is currently studying a Master's Degree in performance of historical cello at Royal College of Music, as a Linda Hill Scholar, with Professor Sarah McMahon, and viola da gamba with Reiko Ichise. Previously, he completed an undergraduate degree in Musicology at the Complutense University of Madrid, together with an undergraduate degree in Baroque Cello at the Madrid Royal Conservatoire. Xavier has played in several orchestras and chamber groups across West Europe, including Opera de Baugé (France), Aglaia Ensemble (Spain) with which he won the second prize at the 53rd edition of the Estella Historical Performance Competition in Navarre (2022), Orquesta Barroca de Salamanca in 2021, and Ars Combinatoria, based in Galicia, Spain, with which he has recently recorded J. S. Bach's Passion according to St. John. Xavier has also played with the Cézanne Quartet in the XIV Festival of Boccherini held in the Mosquera Palace in Spain, where they recorded three Quartets by Luigi Boccherini and Manuel Canales. He has received coaching in baroque interpretation courses at the University of Salamanca and has received masterclasses from renowned proffesors Itxiar Atutxa, Hiro Kurosaki, Josetxu Obregón, Andoni Mercero and Pedro Gandía, among others. He has performed in the first recording of ‘The Symphony of Life’ by the composers Kuzma Bodrov and Carlos Criado, under the baton of Borja Quintas Melero. He is currently part of Lowe Ensemble and Poseidon's Goat Ensemble.
