ECOS Labs: Rebranding Early Music

Lowe Ensemble members Joseph and Myriam represented the group at ECOS Labs 2025 in Murcia, Spain, on 6 November 2025. Organised by ECOS Festival Director Jorge Losana and Anacronía’s David Gutiérrez, the event gathered international festival programmers to discuss the future of Early Music, including rebranding and audience development. The duo was also invited to speak at the conference held on 6–7 November, ahead of Lowe Ensemble’s upcoming performance at the ECOS Festival later in the month.

Joseph and Myriam of Lowe Ensemble took part in ECOS Labs 2025 on 6 November in Murcia, Spain, representing the ensemble at one of the leading forums dedicated to the future of Early Music. The event, part of the wider ECOS Festival, brought together emerging groups and international cultural leaders for two days of discussion and collaboration.

ECOS Labs is organised by Jorge Losana, Director of the ECOS Festival and member of Cantoría, together with David Gutiérrez of Anacronía. Each year, the initiative invites representatives from major organisations such as R.E.M.A. (the European Network of Early Music), E.M.A. (Early Music America), and other prominent cultural institutions. Their aim is to foster dialogue on the evolving role of Early Music in contemporary society, with this year’s focus placed on rebranding, innovation, and strategies for engaging new audiences.

As part of the programme, Joseph and Myriam were invited to speak at the ECOS Labs Conference, held on 6–7 November. They joined other emerging artists in sharing perspectives on artistic identity, audience outreach, and how ensembles today reinterpret historical repertoire for modern listeners.

Their participation precedes Lowe Ensemble’s performance at the ECOS Festival later in November, marking an important moment for the group’s growing presence on the international early-music scene.
